INTERNET
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
(Abridged Version)
Internet access is now available to students and teachers at
Cleveland High School. We are very pleased to provide this access, and believe
the Internet offers vast, diverse and unique resources to both students and
teachers. Our goal in providing this service to teachers and students is to
promote educational excellence in schools by facilitating resource sharing,
innovation, and communication.
With access to computers and people all over the world also comes the
availability of material that may not be considered to be of educational value
in the context of the school setting. On a global network it is impossible to
control all materials and an industrious user may discover controversial
information.
Students are expected to read and comply with the Portland Public Schools'
Acceptable Use Regulation. (The full text of the document can be found on the Portland
Public Schools Web Page (http://www.pps.k12.or.us/techhelp/aur/AUR.pdf). The
use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use
may result in cancellation of the privilege.
There are responsibilities that accompany the use of the Internet. Failure to
observe these responsibilities may revoke a student's privilege to use the
Internet.
